I've taken Spanish classes since I was in preschool, but in 5th grade I decided that I wanted to learn Japanese. While my fascination with the language did stem initially from anime, it went further than that the more I learned about Japanese people and their culture. For one, Japan is a beautiful country (from what I have seen in pictures) and its history is long and noble. Within its people are very apparent remnants of an ancient culture that has lasted this long quite well against the changes that come with modern times. The respect, care, and politeness that can be seen in a Japanese man or woman's treatment of guests, strangers, servicemen, and even in the language (or from bowing to tea pouring) is very honorable and I would like to be able to converse with such very considerate (and creative - anime is amazing) people by the time I am able to take a trip to there and see its beauty for myself.
For now, I need to start doing my homework earlier so I can avoid silly mistakes, but I'm excited to start learning Kanji. I don't know how hard it'll be <:I
